Dease River Float

Frontier Farwest is made up of experienced veteran guides that have traveled the world in the pursuit of fish.  We have discovered a remarkable fishing experience on a remote river in Northern B.C.   We are proud to present with you with the opportunity to join us on our Dease River Float Trip.   This trip takes you on an epic journey through a wilderness paradise where you will be taking copious amounts of grayling on dry flies.   The pike fishing on the upper river is as good as anywhere else in Canada.  It is a relaxing float through some of the most scenic country in North America.

The trip starts and ends in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.  We will paddle through the stunning Cassiar Mountains. This is 7 day float trip and is a true adventure for any level of fisherman, photographer, or outdoor enthusiast.   The stretches will require about 4 hours a day of rowing.  Here you are fishing out of the raft or shooting photography of the wildlife.  That leaves us a lot of time to pull over on bars, islands and riffles for non-stop fishing excitement.  It also allows us to have the time to enjoy our wilderness tent camps every night.  You will never feel rushed.

The upper river is marshy in spots creating perfect cover for large northern pike.  This is where we throw mice patterns into the weeds igniting ferocious assaults.   Most of these fish have never seen a fly, they just hear a splash and instinctively move on lt. On the upper river, a small clean cabin is available RL on a large white rock gravel deposit for us to stay at.  A gravel bar opposite Packer Tom Creek is our next camping spot. It is located on a wonderful riffle where you will fall asleep to the sounds of grayling splashing at dry flies.

The Rapids are straightforward, the two harder ones being Four Mile and Two Mile.  However they offer no danger or threat whatsoever.   At French Creek we have to say good bye to the river. We will land, take out and have a ride back to Whitehorse.
You may choose to stay longer to explore the vibrant capital of the Yukon. You may also consider exploring more of the Yukons great nature, history and landscape on your own.

On this route you will see some of the most inspiring beauty and  magnificant wildlife on this continent. This river offers a great abundance of northern fish species like Arctic Grayling, Lake Trout, Dolly Varden, and Northern Pike.
